The recent Liberty Mutual Invitational Golf Classic, an event which brings Golfers and Supporters on the course to benefit Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit, which is a youth academic scholarship program for the underprivileged residing in Metro Detroit, was held at the prestigious Franklin Hills Country Club.

The August 27 Golf Outing and Auction which raised nearly a half a million dollars to directly benefit  the charity in their efforts to cultivate “youth empowerment through the foundation of education and holistic support”, was as previously, personally managed by Frank Torre, the event chair.

The Annual Golf Outing and the ensuing awards dinner, included some of Detroit’s most iconic names, including Oakland Country Executive L. Brooks Patterson, former Mayor of Detroit Dennis Archer, TV Personality and Channel 4 Anchor Rhonda Walker, Mickey Redmond, a former professional hockey player, and analyst for Detroit Red Wings games on Fox Sports Detroit, Edward Dario Mio, a former professional goal tender who played for the Detroit Red Wings, Edward Miles, Jr, is a retired professional basketball player who played for the Detroit Pistons, and many other notable business and philanthropic leaders, including Ryan LaFontaine, CEO of the LaFontaine  Automotive Group, and Tom Celani, proprietor of the Celani Family Vineyards .

The awards dinner was emceed by Paul W. Smith, the legendary Detroit radio icon, notable columnist, and host of the “Paul W. Smith Show” on WJR radio.

Such initiatives are made possible in part thanks to the generous contributions from local businesses and organizations, among them Signal Restoration Services and PuroClean, who are proud to support the non-profit’s mission of graduating “young people who are physically, emotionally and academically prepared for post-secondary education and a productive life…”.

As the Chairman of Boys Hope and Girls Hope of Detroit, Frank Torre has been involved with the non-profit organization for over 14 years.  He has personally organized and hosted the most recent 26th Annual Golf tournament, which raised over $350,000 as part of the annual campaign to promote and support the organization.  Through his dedication and commitment to the foundations’ success, Frank Torre’s fundraising initiatives over the past 14 years have contributed over 4.5 Million dollars to directly support the foundation’s initiatives of scholarship and educational programs.

During the closing Scholarship Awards Ceremony, the Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit Foundation recognized its 2018 scholarship recipients with a new scholarship, named in honor of Frank Torre, aptly named the “Frank Torre Scholarship”, which recognizes and rewards selected individuals, who embody the foundation’s mission of empowerment though scholarship.

Outside of his active involvement in the philanthropic community, Frank Torre serves as the Co-CEO of Signal Restoration Services, a large-scale national disaster restoration services company, as well as the Vice Chairman of PuroClean, a national disaster restoration services company with locations across the United States and Canada.

Frank Torre’s generous donation to the Great Lakes National Cemetery, located in Holly, Michigan North of Detroit was in honor of his father, Frank Torre Sr., a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Upon hearing that neither Oakland County, nor it’s Road Commission, had funds in their budget to pave the road leading into the Great Lakes National Cemetery Frank Torre, CEO of Signal Restoration Services and Vice-Chairman of PuroClean, donated the funds needed to pave Belford Road.

The Great Lakes National Veterans Cemetery acknowledged Frank Torre’s generosity by naming a section of Belford Road the Cpl Frank Torre, Sr. Drive.

 

In recognition of the dedication and service of Pfc. Frank Torre Sr, a plaque was erected to celebrate his heroic achievements and commemorate the many sacrifices of our nations military heroes.

The section of the road, known as “PFC Frank Torre Sr. Drive”, crosses the “Avenue of Flags” at the entrance to the Great Lakes National Veterans Cemetery.

The Great Lakes National Veterans Cemetery is supported by the Great Lakes National Cemetery Advisory Council which in turn supports volunteer veteran service organization with assistance from the Department of Defense funeral honors team.

training facilities, and flood house.

Among the honored guests, were North Lauderdale Mayor Jack Brady, Vice Mayor Lorenzo Wood, and Commissioner Jerry Graziose.

The City of Tamarac Mayor Harry Dressler and Commissioners Michelle Gomez and Julie Fishman toured the PuroClean Facility and some guests even got to driver a Rover through the warehouse and pilot a drone.

Other guests hosted by Puro Clean’s Vice Chairman Frank Torre, were Jane Bolin of the Peyton Bolin Law Firm, the City of Tamarac Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Peter Mason, and Gulfshore Insurance Client Advisor Tom Toffoli.

Apart from his professional responsibilities as Co-CEO of Signal Restoration and Vice-Chairman of PuroClean, Frank Torre is a Member of the Board of Directors of some of the nations most respected organizations.  One such organizations chaired by Frank Torre, is the Detroit Chapter of the Boys Hope Girls Hope, a National charitable organization that provides group homes for poor, academically capable children.  As the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Boys Hope / Girls Hope of Detroit, Frank Torre has been responsible hosting the Annual Golf Classic held the Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

The Golf Outing, in which Paul W. Smith served as emcee, included dinner as well as a live and silent auction.  Paul W. Smith currently hosts the morning show on WJR radio in Detroit and has been dubbed by the Wall Street Journal as “the king of talk radio in Detroit,”.  Known for his warm and conversational style that keeps listeners tuned in, Paul W. Smith’s shows typically feature in-depth interviews with notable people, including politicians, authors and business leaders.

The Annual Golf Classic was organized and personally managed by Frank Torre, who personally invited some of Michigan’s most influential speakers and attendees to support the Boys Hope and Girls Hope of Detroit. 

The Golf Outing and Auction raised a very significant amount of contributions to support the Boys Hope Girls Hope Programs and Initiatives in Southeastern Michigan.  This year, Signal Restoration and PuroClean were the sponsors of the annual Golf Outing Event.  To date, Frank Torre’s fundraising initiatives, which have benefited this worthy cause for over 12 years, have raised over $4 Million which has been directly responsible for the continued growth of the Southeastern Michigan Boys Hope Girls Hope.

The administrators for the Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit were quoted as saying that (the Golf Classic) “is always beautifully managed by Frank Torre…” adding that “the outing has raised literally millions of dollars for …(the Organization’s) scholars.”

The Boys Hope Girls Hope Annual Golf Classic, as during the previous years, began with a Golf outing, which was followed by cocktails and a Silent Auction to benefit the charity organization.  The dinner was followed by a live auction, after which Frank Torre addressed the attendees with a synopsis of the organizations goals and initiatives stressing how important it is to support this worthy cause and thanked them for their generous support.  Entertainment followed.

Following its inception in 1919, the International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit (IIMD) has been committed to recognizing outstanding individuals who have contributed to the American way of life, support multiculturalism, and the preservation of unique cultural traditions.

In the early eighties, the IIMD, in an effort to formally recognize outstanding leaders from different cultures and honor their incredible achievements and contributions to the America way of life, created the Heritage Hall of Fame Award.  The Hall of Fame Award recognizes such exceptional leaders from various ethnic backgrounds and celebrates their incredible achievements and contributions to the community.

The individual who have demonstrated their commitment to multiculturalism and have generously supported ethnic and cultural traditions are honored for their exemplary lives, careers, and achievements that truly embody and perpetuate the heritage of the American way of life with the prestigious Heritage Hall of Fame Award.

Frank Torre joins a prestigious roster of past honorees which include Edsel B. Ford II; Dennis Archer, the former Mayor of the City of Detroit, Alex ManoogianMike Ilitch, owner of the Detroit Red Wings / Detroit TigersFrank Stella, as well as many other notable figures whose photographs have been forever memorialized and are proudly displayed inside the Hall of Fame Gallery located in the Main Atrium of the COBO Center Convention Hall in the heart of Downtown Detroit.

 

During the Heritage Hall of Fame Dinner, The International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit awarded its coveted Hall of Fame Award to Frank Torre for his outstanding commitment to rebuilding and beautifying the city of Detroit and its surrounding metropolitan area.

 

The Heritage Hall of Fame celebration and the award ceremony to honor Frank Torre’s achievements was held at the beautiful Ambassador Ballroom at the famous Renaissance Hotel overlooking the Detroit River.  Following the celebration, Frank Torre’s photograph was permanently framed and memorialized in the Hall of Fame Gallery located in the Main Atrium of the Cobo Center in the heart of Downtown Detroit.
