Frank Torre hosts the Annual Liberty Mutual Golf Invitational benefiting Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit

Frank Torre recently hosted the Liberty Mutual Golf Invitational benefiting Boys Hope and Girls Hope of Detroit.  Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit, which is an academic scholarship program for the underprivileged youth residing in Metro Detroit whose mission is to help academically motivated middle and high school students rise above disadvantaged backgrounds and become successful in college and beyond.  The organization provides programs that help children meet their full potential by providing value-centered, family-like homes, opportunities and education through college.

The annual Golf Outing was held on August 12, 2019 at Franklin Hills Country Club and provided notable business and philanthropic leaders an opportunity to help make a meaningful difference in the lives of underprivileged youth in residing in Metro Detroit.

Golfers, volunteers, and sponsors were treated to a dinner reception and an awards dinner emceed by Paul W. Smith, the legendary Detroit radio icon and notable columnist who introduced the 2019 Hope Scholars.

“In most charities, you do not see where the money is going, and we wanted you to see where the money is going…” said Paul W. Smith, adding that these Hope Scholars are the “leaders who have persevered through adversity and are reaching toward a promising future”.

The 2019 Liberty Mutual Golf Invitational benefiting Boys Hope Girls of Detroit concluded with a live and silent auction featuring a variety of donated items including Vacation Packages and Sports Memorabilia from the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Red Wings.

Chairing the Annual Golf Classic for many years, Frank Torre’s dedication and commitment to the foundations’ success have contributed over $5 Million to directly fuel youth empowerment through the foundation of education and holistic support.

Such initiatives are made possible in part thanks to the generous contributions from local businesses and organizations which have enabled Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit to continue its mission of helping youth reach their full potential.

DMC RIM Breaks Ground on new facility at District Detroit.

Frank Torre, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Detroit Medical Center’s Rehabilitation Institute Michigan, recently attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the Institute’s new sports medicine facility in Detroit, Michigan.

The new $65 million five-story sports medicine facility, located in District Detroit, will enable the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan to further its medical research into cutting edge treatments and will serve professional athletes from the Detroit Red Wings, the Detroit Tigers, and the Detroit Pistons. The new facility, located in District Detroit, is part of a sprawling sports and entertainment complex anchored by the Little Caesars Sports Arena.

Mr. Torre was joined by the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan CEO Patty Jobbit and DMC physicians Dr. Bryan Little and Dr. Stephen Lemos to officially mark the commencement of construction of the Institute’s new sports rehab, research and simulation services facility.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan Sports Medicine Facility took place inside Wayne State University’s Mike Ilitch School of Business.
